REFLECTIONS
Sunday, January 27th, 2008The past week was a calm week but I learned much. I would like to share with you a few things to think about. The first being, having a leadership position and understanding your role in that position. In every relationship you are in, you have a role to play. Your role at work is different than your role at home. Your role at home is different than the role you play in social settings. The list goes on and on. However, today I choose to speak about your leadership role in the workplace. Regardless, if you have a title that is synonomous with leadership, like manager, supervisor, team leader, director, you still have the responsibility to display leadership qualities of doing the right thing. In some cases when you are not the “Leader” you are placed in situations to impact your immediate superior’s decision because of your choice to do the right thing. Do not miss an opportunity to lead!!! Also, know that everyone can not be a leader in every setting. Know it is also great to be lead.
In our ever changing world, we owe it to ourselves and our society to be open to learning about different cultures whether you agree or not. The keys to talking about cultural differences are respect, effective communication which include listening and open your heart and mind to something new. My first challenge to you this week is to strike up a conversation with someone not like you for the purpose of learning and sharing.
My second challenge is to trust God and pay your tithe this week. Today, my pastor said, DEBT is Doing Everything But Tithing. Like my Grandmother used to say, Loosen your fist, Nothing can get in if you don’t let nothing out.
Have a wonderful week!!
